It does show up in device manager as "TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode)", but windows hello doesn't recognize it (nor does it recognize my camera either, but I'm not too concerned about that). I made a short video here - not really doing much but it's better than no video.I have had this laptop for years and it never worked for as long as I have had it, I got it from my dad so I'm not sure if he ever used it. The screen is a pretty flickery DSTN screen, so isn't great by today's standards. The machine is like a standard 360 but the screen has additional middle hinges and can be rotated from standard notebook format into tablet format with a 45-degree desktop format inbetween.
Which actually worked OK - it recognised most of what I wrote. The software itself as far as I could tell didn't do much - it trained the user on what it needed to recognise letters, rather than learning how you type. Apparently I'm quite lucky to have a 360PE with the original Pen still intact! The stylus design itself is, I think still used today by Wacom - it doesn't use a battery or anything. The machine amazingly is complete and still works as it was intended - which as you might imagine is a little clunky.
Then I used the GUI version of rawrite to write to a bunch of floppies - 5 for PC DOS, 6 for Windows 3.1, 3 for Windows for Pen Computing upgrade to Windows 3.1 and 1 disk for ThinkWrite. I used a USB stick to transfer the raw image files and rawrite to a Windows 98 380Z laptop which usefully has USB, Floppy and CD-ROM. I managed to acquire the original restore floppies from a user on the forum - very grateful for that, as it seems this would have been much trickier before 2015 when this software was found. This machine came to me with Windows 95 flat installed - basically completely unusable as a tablet with Win95.
